I don't know about Catch-22. I bet we all like way different literature. Why don't we try settling on a type of fiction we enjoy. Some people like to read about war, while others like to read about crime... Let's settle on a theme, then go from there. Word to the wise: I will not read romance, spiritual guru, self-help, or other such stuff. I just can't.

Another good book that has religious undertones and is intellectual, but short enough, is Pietro di Donato's Christ in Concrete. It is awesome. It is awarded. It is American lit. It is multi-layered; it basically is about spiritual struggle and the struggle of working class American immigrant. If you like Sinclair's The Jungle, you'll love this book a hundred times more. It's still relevant, though it was written a while ago. If you get through the first couple of pages, you will not put it down. Years ago, I read a short story version of the first chapter, and I had to buy the book and read it.

Lots of great stuff here. If Fiction is what you want; I'll replug "The Shack" as it is Fiction. However; it has great truths in it As the author; W Paul Young;has used real life lessons he's experienced and woven them into a "Fiction" book to illustrate parable-like truths. He actually was only writing a few notes to leave for his real-life children at his wives request. When all was said and done; it turned into a Self-Published Paperback that was #1 on the NYTimes Bestseller list for over 35 weeks..

sounds like a good book. I have lived here acroos the park from the town Library and the first thing I said when I moved in . I will be at that Library for sure it is just about 1/2 block walk. And herre it is 3 years later and I haven't walked across the street yet. This is a good excuse to go. I will go and see if the book is there.--one of these days !!!

I just started a Book Club at my apartment this last weekend on "The Shack". It went great. If anyone would like some insight into the Author and the Book..check out this link-hope you enjoy and read the book!

From W Paul Young website www.windrumors.com explaining "The Shack" as a Parable…"that’s what a Parable does. It uses a story to tell the truth in a way that gets by your training and your defenses".
