Kent just called me a bit ago from Richland. He was given some bad news. I have to take him back over to the clinic this coming Wednesday afternoon for surgery. They want him there at 4:00 for out-patient surgery at 5:00. They have to put a screw in the bone that is broken. Corrina and I will have to take him there, wait for him to be done and bring him home. He won't be able to work Thursday after but should be able to go back to work on Monday according to them. I'll have to lose money too and have Matthew picked up before 3:00 because we will have to leave before 3:00.

It just seems that it's been a hectic year for a lot of us.
Somehow, we'll get through it.

AMEN Robin! I really was upset when he got home and told me they made him pay $150 up front today before he could even see the doctor even though he had the note with him stating who to bill and the claim number for the insurance case and everything!! We don't have the extra $150!!! Heck...I haven't even made our house payment for this month yet (it was due the first) because I didn't have all the money. That will be made late. We are given 15 days grace before we have to pay more but this month, I don't see how we will make it before the 15 days grace period is up. We are just holding tight to our Lord and know once again, He WILL get us through this too.

Maggs, I hope the insurance people won't delay in reimbursing him on that bill.
I have not heard of such a thing back here.
I wonder how they can do that?... make someone pay when the insurance is willing to pay.
I understand paying a $20 co-payment but not the $150.

I dunno, things seems to keep changing and it seems not to be benefitting us.
Is there a way that you can talk with them and maybe they'll show mercy?
I did that only once and they put it on the end of the payments.

I hope you already know that you and your loved ones are in my prayers.

Thanks Maddie and Robin. Yes Maddie, God has us in His hands. He will take care of us as he always had. You are right.

Robin, it's already paid so they got their money and don't care so to speak. They say they will give it back to us AFTER the insurance pays them BUT we don't have $150 so Kent had to charge it which means we'll be paying interest so will have to pay more out of our pocket even if/when the insurance does pay. Yes, we know we are loved and cared for. It means so much!!! Thanks.

That sucks.

If your credit is in good standing with them, they should reduce the % rate for you.
Some % rates are 19 or 21% and if you have a good credit score, they might reduce it to maybe 12 or 14% or lower... something like that.
I dunno...the % might be higher.

It none of the above applies to you, I deeply am sorry you are having to go this route.
I wish you had a *friend* that would loan you with no interest being paid, so that the finance charge won't get presented to you.

Make a few calls to your insurance carrier and find out if this is even legal. We recently took our daughter to the doctor for a physical for school. My wife handed the office girl the doctor bill and she changed the amount from $140 to $350. My wife gave them our card and she put the larger amount on it. Then the girl got into a shouting match with the doctor, about the amount we should be paying. She disagreed with the office girl and made her only charge the $140. So the girl was angry at the doctor and charged us $140 on top of the $350 she had already taken out. She never bothered to void the first amount of $350. This emptied out our account. I found out about it when I got home and was going to pay other bills. It was gone!

I was furious, and headed right back over to the doctors office and let the medical office manager know that this was not happening to us. What a fiasco to get it back into my account. It took me from 11 am to 3 pm to get it corrected and the money back into my account. My son was looking for some money earlier, and we didn't have it for him. The bank goes on next day's business at 2:30 pm, This was a Friday, now he would go the whole weekend without the funds he was needing. I got my money back, but it was too late for my son, but being the world what do they care.

Hi Don,
Apparently this is normal practice from what we've been told twice. We are suppose to be given it back when the insurance pays. It just stinks that we had to do this with no warning as we were told any bills because of the accident, just take the insurance contact numbers and have them bill the insurance directly. Sorry to hear about the fiasco you went through!!

Yes, insurance in this country is crap to put it lightly. We need a socialized med program like the one in Germany. I pray for all people who have no insurance or crap insurance.

Thank you Star. Yes, He WILL make a way!!! It's 'funny' because as the days got closer the more at ease we have felt. Must be all our dear friends and family praying for us. The clinic called yesterday afternoon letting us know that they moved Kent's surgery to 2 hours EARLIER!! This really through a monkey wrench into everything for us all! Kent will have to leave work 2 hours earlier, we will end up having to take Corrina out of school right after lunch so she'll miss 2 classes (Orchestra and Science and she LOVES them both!), and my family I babysit for will have to have their little man 2 hours earlier so they will lose more work too! We are blessed that they are so understanding though!!
